12º DIA - 24/10/2012 - Passeio por Gênova - Porto de Gênova, Acquario di Genova, Galata Museo del Mare, Sommergibile S518 Nazario Sauro, Il Galeone Neptune
    Mais uma vez, como em alguns dias anteriores, levantamos cedo para aproveitar o dia, nos arrumamos, organizamos o que precisávamos na mochila e fomos tomar o café da manhã no próprio hotel. E que café da manhã fantástico! Foi o melhor entre todos os hotéis que ficamos. O salão do hotel é bem grande (pois ali funciona também um restaurante) e a quantidade e variedade de itens à disposição é bem farta, como mostram as fotos no site do Booking. Aproveitamos bastante, principalmente o café quente e os chás, pois o dia amanheceu bem frio. E, novamente veio a questão: Dieta? Isso não existe em hotéis assim...
    Depois do café, saímos e fomos direto ao porto para visitarmos o complexo do Acquariovillage, que conta com várias opções para visitação. Entre as opções de ingresso, que podem ser combinados e adquiridos no site ou no próprio local, estão o Acquario di Genova, Galata Museo del Mare, Sommergibile S518 Nazario Sauro, Museo Nazionale dell'Antartide, La città dei bambini e dei ragazzi, La Biosfera, Il Bigo, L'Acquario di Livorno, Acquario di Cattolica, Acquario di Cala Gonone.     Compramos os ingressos na bilheteria, que estava praticamente vazia, provavelmente por ser época de baixa temporada. Escolhemos a combinação NavigAcquario, que compõe o trio Acquario di Genova, Galata Museo del Mare, Sommergibile S518 Nazario Sauro. Fomos então em direção à entrada do Aquário, que fica a partir do segundo andar. Entramos e o que posso dizer logo na entrada é... FANTÁSTICO! Já o primeiro salão pode-se encontrar uma diversidade de informações, painéis e aquários com várias espécies de peixes, e que já dá a ideia do que se encontra por lá. Como a quantidade de animais e salas é enorme, não vou ficar listando o que há no Aquário, mas os animais que mais gostei de ver foram os pinguins, os tubarões, as focas e os golfinhos. Para andar entre as diversas salas sem se perder, pode-se seguir um percurso sugerido pelas placas de orientação, o que ajuda bastante a otimizar a visitação. No site oficial há bastante informação do que se pode encontrar lá e no wikipedia há uma lista com todas as salas e espécies presentes. Acquario di Genova (em inglês) e Acquario di Genova (Wikipedia). Percorremos tudo até a saída, tiramos muitas fotos e ficamos encantados com o que vimos, foi realmente uma excelente experiência.
    Saímos dali por volta das 12:20h e fomos direto para o Galata Museo del Mare, que fica em outra parte do porto, para não perdermos muito tempo e aproveitarmos bem o dia. Chegamos à recepção, validamos os bilhetes e entramos. Esse museu é um dos mais modernos da Itália e onde é contada a história da navegação por meio da reprodução e exibição de barcos de todos os tamanhos e tipos, atlas, cartas náuticas e instrumentos, pinturas e armas antigas distribuídos por várias salas, e também as áreas interativas que te levam à sensação de estar dentro de um navio de verdade. Logo na entrada, há um 'protótipo' de um Galeão Genovês em tamanho real todo aberto e com várias opções de interação com as telas que exibem 'marinheiros' falando com você. Há também um terraço de onde você tem uma vista maravilhosa de toda a cidade e pode render belíssimas fotos e uma área no segundo andar onde ocorrem alguns eventos e que abriga o restaurante do museu.     Depois de percorrermos praticamente todo o museu e tirarmos muitas fotos, já eram por volta das 15:40h e estávamos famintos. Tentamos almoçar no restaurante do museu, mas já estava fechando e tivemos que procurar um lugar para almoçarmos ou lancharmos. Encontramos um caffè/gelateria (o Caffè Il Gelato) aberto e pedimos um sanduíche de 'pollo con verdure grigliate' e uma coca-cola para cada. Eis o arrependimento, pois quem não gosta de berinjela, abobrinha e vegetais do gênero, nunca deve pedir 'verdure grigliate' (vegetais/legumes grelhados). Mesmo não gostando comemos assim mesmo, já que a fome era grande.
    Depois do lanche nada agradável, voltamos para o museu para validar a visita ao Sommergibile S518 Nazario Sauro, que é um submarino de verdade, protótipo da primeira série da Classe Sauro de submarinos de guerra, e que pertenceu à Marinha Militar Italiana. Ele foi desativado em 2002, transformado em museu e aberto ao público a partir de maio de 2010, fazendo parte do AcquarioVillage e sendo o maior submarino italiano que pode ser visitado ainda na água. O Nazario Sauro oferece aos visitantes a oportunidade de experimentar as condições de vida dos submarinistas a bordo de um submarino real.     Depois de olharmos tudo e tirarmos algumas fotos, fomos em direção ao Il Galeone Neptune. Tiramos algumas fotos em frente a ele e compramos os ingressos para entrarmos. Olharmos tudo por dentro e no convés dele e tiramos algumas fotos. O Neptune é uma réplica de um Galeão espanhol de verdade do século 17, construído em 1985 para o filme Piratas, de Roman Polanski, e também foi utilizado em 2011 como navio do Capitão Gancho para a série Neverland. Ele hoje está ancorado no Porto Antigo de Gênova e é uma das atrações turísticas do local. Vale a pena visitar.
    Saindo dali, já eram por volta das 18:20h, fomos novamente em direção ao Aquário para ver se ainda encontrávamos as lojas da galeria do térreo abertas. Entramos em apenas duas, mas os preços dos produtos delas era muito caro, então acabamos não comprando nada. Mas conseguimos um souvenir bem mais bacana e mais barato em uma máquina de foto instantânea que havia na galeria.
    Como já eram por volta de 18:40h e estava escurecendo, resolvemos voltar para o hotel e dar o dia de passeio como encerrado. Chegamos ao hotel exaustos de tanto andarmos e mais uma vez aproveitamos a banheira para um banho restaurador. Depois nos arrumamos para jantarmos e ficamos conversando e decidindo o roteiro do dia seguinte... (segue no 13º DIA)

Dicas:
1) Gênova é a capital e a principal cidade da região da Ligúria Italiana, mas mesmo assim parece não ser uma cidade muito visada por turistas, a não ser pela zona portuária onde chegam alguns cruzeiros vindos de vários lugares, então na baixa temporada é comum encontrar algumas das principais atrações vazias e sem filas na bilheteria, mesmo tendo super-promoções.
2) Não economize nas fotos, especialmente no Aquário e no Galata Museo, pois elas podem virar belíssimos fundos de tela ou enfeitar a estante ou a mesa de trabalho com um belo porta-retrato. Mas deve-se ter cuidado com os avisos de 'no flash', pois usar o flash é terminantemente proibido, para preservar os animais.
3) No terraço do Galata Museo del Mare se tem a vista de quase toda a cidade e do horizonte em direção à barreira portuária e ao mar, e pode render belíssimas fotos também.
4) Um dos problemas em viagens longas é a roupa suja. Vai a dica: lavamos ao menos as camisas, blusas e roupas íntimas com água quente e sabonete na banheira do hotel, e as penduramos nos cabides que havia no guarda-roupas. As roupas saíram perfeitamente limpas e cheirosas. A pia também poderia ser utilizada.
5) Mais uma vez a dica: gelatos e muitos gelatos. Mesmo o tempo estando frio é irresistível.
6) Pôr-do-sol + vista para o mar + câmera fotográfica = fotos espetaculares.

    Once again, such as some previous days, we woke up early to enjoy the beautiful day, we organized the backpack with all we needed and got ready to have breakfast at the hotel. And what a fantastic breakfast! It was the best among all the hotels where we stayed. The hotel lounge is quite large (because it's also a restaurant) and the quantity and variety of items available are great, just like the pictures shown at Booking.com website. We enjoyed it a lot, especially hot coffee and teas, because the weather was a bit cold, and the best item was: Nutella. Lots of sachets among butter and jams. And we have the question again: Diet? It doesn't exist in hotels like this...
    After the breakfast, we got out and went straight to the port area to visit the Acquariovillage complex, which has various options to visitors.     We bought the tickets at the ticket office, that was with no queues, probably because of low season. We chose the NavigAcquario combo, which consists of Acquario di Genova, Galata Museo del Mare and Sommergibile S518 Nazario Sauro. So we went towards the Aquarium's entry, which is on the second floor. We got in it and what I can say at the entrance is just... FANTASTIC! In the first hall you can find lots of information, panels and aquariums with various species of fishes, that shows you ​​all you can find there. How there are many animals and rooms there, I won't list them here, but I liked more to see the penguins, sharks, seals and dolphins. To walk through the various rooms without getting lost, you can follow a route suggested by orientation signs on the walls, which helps the visitation a lot. There are enough information at the official website of what you can find there and there is a list of all rooms and species at Wikipedia. We walked through all rooms even get to the exit, took many pictures and were delighted with everything we saw, it was really a great experience.
    We left there at around 12:20pm and went towards to Galata Museo del Mare, which is at the other side of the port area, to not waste much time and still enjoying the day a lot. We arrived at the reception, got the tickets validated and entered. This museum is one of the most modern in Italy and where the story of navigation is told by means of reproduction and exhibition of ships of all sizes and types, atlases, nautical charts and instruments, paintings and ancient weapons distributed over several rooms, and there is also interactive areas that lead you to the feeling of being inside a real ship. At the entrance, there is a 'prototype' of a Genovese Galleon, in real size, wide open and with various interaction options with the screens which display 'sailors' talking to you. There is also a terrace where you have a wonderful view of the entire city and can take wonderful pictures and an area on the second floor where there are some events and which houses the museum's restaurant.     After walking through almost the whole museum and taking lots of pictures, it was at around 03:40pm and we were hungry. We tried lunch at the museum's restaurant, but it was closing and we had to find another place for lunch or at least a snack. We found a caffè/gelateria (Caffè Il Gelato) opened and ordered a 'pollo con verdure grigliate' sandwich and a Coke for each. And what a regret, because who doesn't like eggplant, zucchini and similar vegetables, should never ask for 'verdure grigliate' (vegetables / grilled vegetables). Even disliking them, we ate them anyway, because we were really hungry.
    After the unpleasant 'lunch', we returned to the museum to validate the ticket to visit the Sommergibile S518 Nazario Sauro, which is a real submarine, a prototype of the first series of warfare submarines of Sauro Class, and which belonged to the Italian Navy. It was deactivated in 2002, transformed into a museum and opened to the public from May 2010, as part of AcquarioVillage and being the largest Italian submarine in the water that can be visited. The Nazario Sauro offers to visitors the opportunity to experience the living conditions of sailors on board a real submarine.     After looking everything and taking some pictures, we went towards the Il Galeone Neptune. We took some pictures in front of it and bought tickets to enter into it. We looked everything inside and on its deck it and took some pictures. The Neptune is a replica of a real 17th century Spanish Galleon, built in 1985 for Roman Polanski's film Pirates, and was also used in 2011 as the ship of Captain Hook for the TV Serie Neverland. Nowadays it's in the Port of Genoa and is one of the main local touristic attractions. It's worth a visit.
    Leaving there, it was at around 06:20pm, we went to the Acquario's ground floor again hoping that its stores were still open. We entered in two stores, but how their products were very expensive we didn't buy anything. But we got a much better and cheaper souvenir on an instant photo machine which was in the gallery.
    How it was already around 06:40pm and the day was getting dark, we decided returning to the hotel and let the touristic day as finished. We arrived at the hotel exhausted of walking so much and once again we enjoyed the tub for a relaxing bath. Then we got ready for dinner, were talking and planning the next day... Tips:
1) Genova is the capital and main city of Liguria region of Italy, but even so it doesn't seem to be a city widely targeted by tourists, excepting the port area, where some cruises from various places arrive there, so in the low season it is common to find some of main attractions empty and with no queues at the ticket offices, even with super discounts.
2) Take lots of pictures there, especially at Aquarium and Galata Museo, because they can turn beautiful backgrounds or decorate the shelf or desk with a beautiful frame. But you should be careful with the warnings of 'no flash', because using the flash is expressly forbidden, preserving the animals' health.
3) Galata Museo del Mare has a terrace where you have a view of almost entire city, the barrier of seaport and the horizon, and you can take wonderful pictures there.
4) One of the problems on long trips is dirty clothes. A great tip: we washed at least the t-shirts, blouses and underwear with hot water and bath soap in the hotel's bathtub, and we got some hangers from the wardrobe and hung the clothes all over the room. The clothes were perfectly cleaned and perfumed. The bathroom sink could be used too.
5) The same tip again: gelatos and more gelatos. Even the weather being cold it's irresistible.
6) Sunset + sea views + photo camera = spectacular shots.
