07º DIA - 19/10/2012 - Passeio por Florença - Carro alugado e viagem a Maranello - Ferrari
Chegou o grande dia de conhecer Maranello, a casa da Ferrari, fabricante dos carros dos sonhos da maioria dos mortais. Acordamos por volta das 08:00h, nos arrumamos, organizamos tudo o que precisávamos na mochila e fomos tomar o café da manhã no próprio hotel. Finalmente um café da manhã de verdade: era simples mas muito bem servido com bolos, pães, geléias, sucos, café, leite e frutas.
Após o café, já eram por volta das 09:30h, pegamos nossas coisas e partimos para a Estação SMN para tentar pegar algum transporte para a locadora de veículos Sicily by Car (que não recomendo apesar de ter bons preços) onde reservamos um carro com antecedência. Perguntamos a algumas pessoas como poderíamos chegar lá, e o jeito foi pegar um táxi mesmo. Pagamos o preço fixo de 20€ da estação ao aeroporto. A taxista que nos levou até o aeroporto não sabia que as locadoras haviam se mudado de lá para um outro lugar próximo da saída para a Autostrada A11, então perguntou a um outro taxista como chegar lá e ele indicou o caminho, e ela gentilmente nos levou até a porta da locadora. Quando chegamos havia apenas uma pessoa atendendo e uma pequena fila com umas 6 pessoas... tanto para retirada quanto para devolução dos veículos. Aguardamos pacientemente até sermos atendidos, o que já eram quase 10:40h e, depois de toda a burocracia de documentos e orientações, finalmente conseguimos sair... às 11:15h. Na reserva que fizemos havíamos escolhido um Fiat Panda e nos deram um... Fiat 500?! Mesmo não gostando da troca inesperada de veículo, acabamos aceitando pois já estávamos muito atrasados para a viagem de quase 2 horas. Alugamos também um GPS que o atendente já configurou para o idioma em Português (de Portugal) e que ajudou bastante na ida.
A viagem foi muito tranquila, pegamos a Autostrada A11 e depois a A1, que são muito bem conservadas e bem sinalizadas. Passamos por muitos lugares com paisagens fantásticas, pena que o tempo era curto e não pudemos parar para tirar fotos.
Chegamos em Maranello às 13:00h e logo fomos abordados por uma funcionária da loja Pitlane Red Passion, que fica quase ao lado do Museo Ferrari. Pensamos que ela fosse funcionária do museu, e que a loja também fizesse parte dele, pois ela estava com um macacão da Ferrari e nos abordou na entrada do museu, falando um pouco de português e oferecendo vaga no estacionamento que fica entre o Museu e a loja. Só percebemos que não pertenciam ao museu depois que entramos na loja. Mesmo assim olhamos os produtos da loja, tiramos algumas fotos dos carros que eles tinham disponíveis e depois de algumas negociações, e pela falta de tempo, alugamos por 20 minutos uma Ferrari Califórnia, a única que eles tinham com 4 lugares e que caberíamos nós 3: a Roberta, o instrutor e eu. Rodamos por algumas ruas enquanto a Roberta no banco de trás filmava e tirava fotos, então pegamos um trecho da Via Modena-Sassuolo onde o instrutor falou para acelerar... que maravilha! Poder conduzir uma Ferrari a 140km/h numa estrada perfeita e ouvindo o som daquele motor não tem outra palavra para descrever senão FANTÁSTICO! Depois de mais algumas voltas, retornamos à loja. Tiramos mais algumas fotos enquanto aguardávamos o vídeo e as fotos do passeio ficarem prontas. Depois de tudo pronto, pegamos as mídias, pagamos e ainda escrevemos no "livro de visitas" e depois fomos para o Museo Ferrari.
Em frente à entrada do museu tem um pórtico que identifica o local, onde tiramos algumas fotos e seguimos para a bilheteria. Assim que entramos, já ficamos maravilhados com a história da marca Ferrari bem na nossa frente. O museu ainda estava em fase de reforma, então muitas salas ainda não estavam com os papéis de parede, com as marcações onde ficaria cada modelo e com as novas placas de identificação dos modelos, conforme tem tudo descrito no site oficial: Museo Ferrari - Halls and Services. Logo na entrada, tem a 'Competition Hall', que é uma sala dedicada aos modelos de competição de várias categorias de várias épocas, e uma bancada com miniaturas de vários modelos de F1. Havia também uma área onde são exibidas algumas partes componentes dos F1, como motores, carrocerias, rodas... muito legal também. Perto dali, fica a 'Victories Hall', que é como uma 'Sala de Troféus' com fotos, capacetes, vários troféus conquistados pela equipe e seus pilotos e miniaturas dos modelos campeões desde 1952 até 1982, e também no fundo da sala estão expostos oito modelos que conquistaram o Mundial de Construtores entre 1999 e 2008, sendo 6 do Michael Schumacher, 1 do Kimi Räikkönen e 1 do Felipe Massa. Dentro dessa sala há uma saleta muito bacana também com um equipamento de som e vídeo que simulam os sons que se ouve de dentro do cockpit, dos boxes ou das arquibancadas. Seguindo dali, subimos ao segundo andar onde tem a sala 'Grand Tourer Hall', onde ficam expostos alguns dos modelos mais bonitos (e põe bonitos nisso) desenhados nos 60 anos de parceria entre o Estúdio Pininfarina e a Companhia do Cavalo Rampante. Ao lado há uma 'Sala de Exibições Temporárias' muito bacana que, na época que fomos, havia uma exposição especial em homenagem a Gilles Villeneuve, no 30º aniversário de sua morte, com vídeos, fotos e alguns dos carros que ele pilotou. Nessa sala fica também o 'Campus Vermelho', que segundo o site do museu é "um laboratório onde os alunos e as crianças podem aprender mais os temas da inovação, trabalho em equipe e emoção". Poderia passar muito tempo ali, é muito bacana mesmo. Para finalizar a visita, como em todos os lugares turísticos, chegamos à 'Ferrari Store', com tudo o que se pode imaginar de uma loja onde o assunto é automobilismo: miniaturas de vários tamanhos, roupas, capacetes, bandeiras, bichos de pelúcia... um 'terror dos cartões de crédito'. Como não tínhamos muito tempo e a grana era curta, só olhamos, tiramos algumas fotos e fomos para a cafeteria, mas como havíamos 'lanchado' durante a viagem, acabamos não comendo nada ali.
Voltamos à loja Pitlane Red Passion e, como os preços ali eram mais baixos que os da própria loja da Ferrari, compramos algumas lembrancinhas para nós e para os amigos. Até hoje lamento ao lembrar que não pude trazer um automodelo (de uns 60x25cm) com controle remoto por apenas 60€ (ou R$ 170), enquanto que aqui no Brasil ele custaria, no mínimo, R$ 400 (ou 145€).
Passada a lamentação, já eram por volta das 16:00h, fomos pegar nosso carro para irmos embora. Quando entramos no carro, começou a aventura da volta para casa... a primeira surpresa que tivemos: o GPS morreu. Eu o esqueci ligado dentro do porta-luvas e a bateria dele descarregou. Tentei ligar o carregador no acendedor de cigarros do carro, mas ele também não estava funcionando, então tivemos que contar com o mapa que levamos, as placas e muita sorte. Como as ruas são muito parecidas, rodamos por várias delas até encontrarmos as placas que finalmente nos levaram até a Autostrada A1, e nos deixou mais tranquilos e a partir dali fizemos uma boa viagem até chegarmos de volta à locadora, por volta das 18:00h. Como eu não sabia com qual combustível eu poderia abastecer, entregamos o carro do jeito que chegou... e acabamos morrendo em 40€ só do combustível, além do aluguel. Mas, mesmo assim, ficamos com a sensação de 'missão cumprida'. Depois de todos os trâmites para a devolução do carro, ficamos aguardando a van que nos levaria ao aeroporto para, finalmente, pegar um ônibus até a Estação SMN e depois irmos para o hotel.
Chegamos ao hotel por volta das 19:30h, arrumamos nossas coisas, nos arrumamos e jantamos, já que havíamos feito compras no dia anterior. Depois ficamos conversando e novamente planejando o dia seguinte... (segue no 08º DIA)

Dicas:
1) Mesmo que faça como nós, tirando um dia para ir para outra cidade, ainda assim recomendo a compra do Firenze Card. Ele nos seria útil na volta de ônibus para o hotel.
2) Não recomendo utilizar carro em Florença, seja alugado ou não. Florença é uma indústria de multas, onde qualquer descuido pode resultar em uma ou várias multas pesadas e você só fica sabendo quando chega a notificação e, se o carro for alugado, você ainda paga um valor absurdo só para eles enviarem a documentação para o departamento de multas, que posteriormente envia para você a multa propriamente dita para você pagar.
3) Se mesmo com a dica anterior, achar necessário usar um carro lá, muito cuidado com os locais restritos e com a legislação. Não recomendo a Sicily by Car (onde aluguei o carro), pois o serviço é bem falho e a ilusão de aluguel barato termina quando chegam as outras taxas, principalmente se tiver multas. O valor cobrado só para envio de documentação para o departamento de multas é o mais alto.
4) Tirando a parte ruim, a dica que dou é sobre Maranello e a Ferrari: se for para lá, vá muito cedo! Apesar de ser uma cidade minúscula, há muito a se visitar lá, não só o Museo Ferrari, e não economize nas fotos, é tudo muito fantástico. Se ainda tiver tempo, vale uma visita ao Museo Casa Enzo Ferrari, em Modena.
5) Em Maranello há lojas, como a Pitlane Red Passion e a PushStart Maranello, onde você pode fazer tipo um 'test-drive' nos carros. Os preços variam conforme o modelo do carro e o tempo do test-drive. Por exemplo, uma volta de 10min em uma F430 Spider custa em média 70€ em uma dessas lojas. Vale a pena a experiência.

7th DAY - 19/10/2012 - Tour in Firenze - Rented car and trip to Maranello - Ferrari
It was the great day to know Maranello city, the Ferrari's home, the company that produces the cars which mostly people dream to have one. We woke up at around 08:00am, organized everything that we needed in the backpack, got ready to go out and went to have breakfast at the hotel. Finally a real breakfast: it was simple but very good with cakes, breads, jams, juices, coffee, milk and fruits.
After breakfast, it was already around 09:30am, we got our things and headed to the SMN Station to try to take some transport to the car rental company Sicily by Car (that I don't recommend, despite of good prices) where we reserved a car in advance. We asked some people how we could get there, and the way was to take a taxi. We paid a fixed price of 20€ from the Station to the airport. The taxi driver who took us to the airport didn't know that the car rental companies had moved from there to another place near the exit to the Autostrada A11, then she asked another taxi driver how to get there and he pointed the way, and she kindly took us to the door of the store. When we arrived, there was only one attendant and a small queue with a 6 persons... both for rental and for returning the vehicles. We waited patiently until our time, that it was almost 10:40am, and after all the bureaucracy of documents and guidelines, we finally could get out... at 11:15am. On booking that we did we had chosen a Fiat Panda and they gave us a... Fiat 500?! Although we didn't like the unexpected changing of vehicle, we accepted because we were late for a trip of almost 2 hours. We also rent a GPS that the attendant configured for the Portuguese (Portugal) language and that helped us a lot on the way.
The trip was very good, we took the Autostrada A11 and then the A1, which are very well maintained and well marked. We went through many places with fantastic landscapes, but time was very short and we couldn't stop to take pictures.
We arrived to Maranello at 01:00pm and then we were approached by an employee of the store Pitlane Red Passion, which is almost beside of Museo Ferrari. We thought she was an worker of the museum, and the store also was part of it, because she was wearing a Ferrari's jumpsuit and approached us the entrance of the museum speaking some words in Portuguese and offering parking place, that was located between the Museum and the store. We just realized that they didn't belong to the museum after we got in the store. Anyway we looked at the products in the store, took some pictures of the cars they had to rent and, after some negotiations, and the short time we had, we rented for 20 minutes a Ferrari California, the only one that they had with 4 seats for 3 persons: Roberta, the instructor and me. We went through some streets while Roberta was filming and taking pictures at the backseat, then we took a stretch of Via Modena-Sassuolo where the instructor said to me to accelerate... what wonderful! Can drive a Ferrari at 140km/h on a perfect road and hearing the sound of that engine has no other word to describe but FANTASTIC! After a few more laps, we returned to the store. We took some pictures more while were waiting the video and photos of the tour get ready. After everything was done, we got the medias, paid and also wrote on the "guestbook", and then we went to the Museo Ferrari.
In front of the museum entrance there is a big arch that identifies the museum location, where we took some photos and then we went to the ticket office. When we entered, we were already amazed by the history of the Ferrari's brand in front of us. The museum was still under reforming, so many rooms weren't still with wallpapers, with markings on the floor where would stay each model and their new nameplates, according with the description on the on the official website: Museo Ferrari - Halls and Services. Right at the entrance, there is the 'Competition Hall', which is a room dedicated to competition models of many categories of various times, and also a glass stand with several F1 miniature models. There is also an area where there are some F1 component parts such as engines, bodywork, wheels... also pretty cool. Near there, there is the 'Victories Hall' which is like a 'Trophy Room' with photos, helmets, various trophies won by the team and its drivers and miniature models of champions since 1952 until 1982, and also at the back are exposed eight real F1 models that have won the "World Constructors' Championship" between 1999 and 2008: 6 of Michael Schumacher, 1 of Kimi Räikkönen and 1 of Felipe Massa. Inside this room there is also a very nice small room with a sound and video equipment that simulate the sounds you hear from inside the cockpit, from the pit lane or from the stands. Going ahead from there, we went up to the second floor where there is the 'Grand Tourer Hall', where there are exposed some of the most beautiful models (or you can say most wonderful) designed along 60 years of partnership between the Studio Pininfarina and the Prancing Horse Company. Beside there, there is the 'Temporary Exhibition Room', where there was a special exhibition in honor to Gilles Villeneuve, on the 30th anniversary of his death, with videos, pictures and some cars which he drove. There is also in this room the 'Red Campus', which according to the website of the museum it's "a laboratory where students and children can learn more the themes of innovation, teamwork and emotion." I could spend a long time there, it's really very nice. Finishing the visitation, like there is in all tourist places, we arrived at the 'Ferrari Store', with everything you can imagine in a store where the subject is motoring: miniature cars of various size, clothing, helmets, flags, stuffed animals... a 'terror of credit cards'. How we didn't have much time and money was short, we just looked, took some pictures and went to the coffee shop, but how we had a snack during the trip, we didn't eat anything there.
We went back to Pitlane Red Passion store and, how the prices of their products were lower than at Ferrari Store, we bought some souvenirs for us and some friends. I regret until now remembering that I couldn't bring an automodel (with about 60x25cm) with remote control, for only 60 € (or R$ 170), while in Brazil it would cost at least R$ 400 (or 145€).
After the regrets and sadness... it was already around 04:00pm, so we went to our car to leave there. When we got in the car, the adventure to back home started... we had the first surprise: the GPS has died. I forgot it turned on inside the glove compartment and its battery had discharged. I tried plugging its charger into the cigarette lighter, but it also wasn't working, so we had to depend on the map that we had, the plates and some lucky. As the streets are very similar, we went through several of them until we find the plates that finally led us to the Autostrada A1, and let us a bit relaxed and then we had a nice trip until the rental store, at around 06:00pm. How I didn't know what kind of fuel I could fill the fuel tank, we returned the car as it was... and unfortunately died in 40€ only for the fuel, in addition to the rent. Anyway, we were with the sensation of 'mission accomplished'. After all the procedures of returning the car, we waited the shuttle service that would take us to the airport to finally take a bus to SMN Station and then go to the hotel.
We arrived at the hotel at around 07:30pm, organized our things, got ready, had a good dinner, which we had already shopped the day before, and then we were talking about the day and planning again the next day... (continues on 8th DAY)
It was the great day to know Maranello city, the Ferrari's home, the company that produces the cars which mostly people dream to have one. We woke up at around 08:00am, organized everything that we needed in the backpack, got ready to go out and went to have breakfast at the hotel. Finally a real breakfast: it was simple but very good with cakes, breads, jams, juices, coffee, milk and fruits.
After breakfast, it was already around 09:30am, we got our things and headed to the SMN Station to try to take some transport to the car rental company Sicily by Car (that I don't recommend, despite of good prices) where we reserved a car in advance. We asked some people how we could get there, and the way was to take a taxi. We paid a fixed price of 20€ from the Station to the airport. The taxi driver who took us to the airport didn't know that the car rental companies had moved from there to another place near the exit to the Autostrada A11, then she asked another taxi driver how to get there and he pointed the way, and she kindly took us to the door of the store. When we arrived, there was only one attendant and a small queue with a 6 persons... both for rental and for returning the vehicles. We waited patiently until our time, that it was almost 10:40am, and after all the bureaucracy of documents and guidelines, we finally could get out... at 11:15am. On booking that we did we had chosen a Fiat Panda and they gave us a... Fiat 500?! Although we didn't like the unexpected changing of vehicle, we accepted because we were late for a trip of almost 2 hours. We also rent a GPS that the attendant configured for the Portuguese (Portugal) language and that helped us a lot on the way.
The trip was very good, we took the Autostrada A11 and then the A1, which are very well maintained and well marked. We went through many places with fantastic landscapes, but time was very short and we couldn't stop to take pictures.
We arrived to Maranello at 01:00pm and then we were approached by an employee of the store Pitlane Red Passion, which is almost beside of Museo Ferrari. We thought she was an worker of the museum, and the store also was part of it, because she was wearing a Ferrari's jumpsuit and approached us the entrance of the museum speaking some words in Portuguese and offering parking place, that was located between the Museum and the store. We just realized that they didn't belong to the museum after we got in the store. Anyway we looked at the products in the store, took some pictures of the cars they had to rent and, after some negotiations, and the short time we had, we rented for 20 minutes a Ferrari California, the only one that they had with 4 seats for 3 persons: Roberta, the instructor and me. We went through some streets while Roberta was filming and taking pictures at the backseat, then we took a stretch of Via Modena-Sassuolo where the instructor said to me to accelerate... what wonderful! Can drive a Ferrari at 140km/h on a perfect road and hearing the sound of that engine has no other word to describe but FANTASTIC! After a few more laps, we returned to the store. We took some pictures more while were waiting the video and photos of the tour get ready. After everything was done, we got the medias, paid and also wrote on the "guestbook", and then we went to the Museo Ferrari.
In front of the museum entrance there is a big arch that identifies the museum location, where we took some photos and then we went to the ticket office. When we entered, we were already amazed by the history of the Ferrari's brand in front of us. The museum was still under reforming, so many rooms weren't still with wallpapers, with markings on the floor where would stay each model and their new nameplates, according with the description on the on the official website: Museo Ferrari - Halls and Services. Right at the entrance, there is the 'Competition Hall', which is a room dedicated to competition models of many categories of various times, and also a glass stand with several F1 miniature models. There is also an area where there are some F1 component parts such as engines, bodywork, wheels... also pretty cool. Near there, there is the 'Victories Hall' which is like a 'Trophy Room' with photos, helmets, various trophies won by the team and its drivers and miniature models of champions since 1952 until 1982, and also at the back are exposed eight real F1 models that have won the "World Constructors' Championship" between 1999 and 2008: 6 of Michael Schumacher, 1 of Kimi Räikkönen and 1 of Felipe Massa. Inside this room there is also a very nice small room with a sound and video equipment that simulate the sounds you hear from inside the cockpit, from the pit lane or from the stands. Going ahead from there, we went up to the second floor where there is the 'Grand Tourer Hall', where there are exposed some of the most beautiful models (or you can say most wonderful) designed along 60 years of partnership between the Studio Pininfarina and the Prancing Horse Company. Beside there, there is the 'Temporary Exhibition Room', where there was a special exhibition in honor to Gilles Villeneuve, on the 30th anniversary of his death, with videos, pictures and some cars which he drove. There is also in this room the 'Red Campus', which according to the website of the museum it's "a laboratory where students and children can learn more the themes of innovation, teamwork and emotion." I could spend a long time there, it's really very nice. Finishing the visitation, like there is in all tourist places, we arrived at the 'Ferrari Store', with everything you can imagine in a store where the subject is motoring: miniature cars of various size, clothing, helmets, flags, stuffed animals... a 'terror of credit cards'. How we didn't have much time and money was short, we just looked, took some pictures and went to the coffee shop, but how we had a snack during the trip, we didn't eat anything there.
We went back to Pitlane Red Passion store and, how the prices of their products were lower than at Ferrari Store, we bought some souvenirs for us and some friends. I regret until now remembering that I couldn't bring an automodel (with about 60x25cm) with remote control, for only 60 € (or R$ 170), while in Brazil it would cost at least R$ 400 (or 145€).
After the regrets and sadness... it was already around 04:00pm, so we went to our car to leave there. When we got in the car, the adventure to back home started... we had the first surprise: the GPS has died. I forgot it turned on inside the glove compartment and its battery had discharged. I tried plugging its charger into the cigarette lighter, but it also wasn't working, so we had to depend on the map that we had, the plates and some lucky. As the streets are very similar, we went through several of them until we find the plates that finally led us to the Autostrada A1, and let us a bit relaxed and then we had a nice trip until the rental store, at around 06:00pm. Tips:
1) Even if you do like us, taking a day to go to another city, I still recommend purchasing the Firenze Card. It would be useful for us to get back to the hotel by bus in this day.
2) I don't recommend using car in Firenze, rented or not. Firenze is an industry of fines, where any carelessness can result in one or more heavy fines and you only finds out when the notification comes, and if the car is rented, you still pay a nonsense amount for the rental company to submit your documentations to the department of fines, which then finally sends the fine to you to pay.
3) If even with the previous tip you think necessary to use a car there, take care with restricted areas and with local legislation. I don't recommend the rental company Sicily by Car (where I rented the car) because the service is very flawed and the illusion of cheap rent ends when the other fees come, especially if you have fines. The amount charged only for sending documentation to the department of fines is the highest among all companies.
4) Excepting the bad part, the tip I give is about Maranello and Ferrari: if you're thinking to go there, go early! Despite being a tiny town, there are many places to visit there, not only the Museo Ferrari, and take lots of pictures, everything is very fantastic. If you have time, it's worth a visit to the Museo Casa Enzo Ferrari in Modena.
5) There are some stores in Maranello, like Pitlane Red Passion and PushStart Maranello, where you can do a 'test-drive' with cars. The prices range depending on the car model and the time of the test-drive. For example, a tour of 10 minutes with a F430 Spider costs about 70€ in one of these stores. It's an amazing experience.
