Hurri e Belle Pelo Mundo: Relatos da Viagem à Itália - 05º DIA /// Reports of Travel to Italy

05º DIA - 17/10/2012 - Passeio por Roma - Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano, Castel Sant'Angelo e Basílica de São Pedro
    Novamente como no dia anterior, levantamos e nos arrumamos por volta das 8:30. Organizamos o que precisávamos na mochila e fomos mais uma vez ao Rik's Cafe' para o último café-da-manhã lá. Mais um dia bonito, bem ensolarado e quase sem nuvens.
    Após o café, pegamos o metrô em direção à Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano. Chegamos à estação por volta das 10h e fomos em direção à Basílica, passando pelo portal de um dos muros que cercam os limites da cidade da Roma Antiga. A Basílica de São João de Latrão (em italiano: San Giovanni in Laterano) se localiza na praça San Giovanni. Seu nome oficial é Archibasilica Sanctissimi Salvatoris et Sanctorum Iohannes Baptista et Evangelista in Laterano (Arquibasílica do Santíssimo Salvador e dos Ss. João o Batista e o Evangelista de Latrão) e possui o título honorífico de Omnium Urbis et Orbis Ecclesiarum Mater et Caput (Mãe e Cabeça de todas as Igrejas de Roma e do Mundo), o que a coloca acima de todas as igrejas do mundo, pois é a Catedral da Diocese de Roma, que contém o Trono Papal (Cathedra Romana) e onde reside o Bispo de Roma: o Papa. Chegamos lá e, mais uma vez, ficamos maravilhados com tamanha beleza de cada detalhe, cada escultura, cada pintura, cada altar. Olhamos praticamente tudo, tiramos algumas fotos, acendemos uma vela fazendo uma prece para proteção e só não fomos à parte do museu por um erro de informação, mas que acabou colaborando, pois o tempo era curto.     Saindo dali, fomos até uma loja enorme da Coin, que fica na esquina de frente para o portal e olhamos bastante coisas, desde roupas a perfumes e maquiagens, até artigos de utilidades domésticas. A loja tem 4 andares e é gigantesca. Depois de olharmos tudo, fomos para o metrô e seguimos em direção à estação Ottaviano para visitarmos o Castel Sant'Angelo. Saímos da estação e, como já eram quase 13h, fomos procurar um lugar para almoçarmos. Seguimos pela Via Silla e logo encontramos um restaurante simples mas muito bom chamado 'Ristorante Antropometrico'. Pedimos o básico: um 'Spaghetti alla carbonara' e um 'Gnocchi di patate al pomodoro'. Muito bom!
    Depois de almoçarmos, fomos direto para o Castel Sant'Angelo. QUE ESPETÁCULO! O castelo visto do pátio de fora, perto da ponte, é lindo. Pegamos a fila que não estava tão grande e, com nossos Roma Pass na mão, pagamos o ingresso com desconto. Entramos em cada sala, vimos cada lugar que estava disponível para olhar e tiramos muitas fotos. Poderia passar um tempão descrevendo tudo o que vimos, já que é um castelo bem grande, mas as fotos podem mostrar mais detalhes. E para saber mais recomendo esses sites: Castel Sant'Angelo (site oficial em Italiano), Castel Sant'Angelo (site do Ministério da Cultura Italiano) e Castelo de Santo Ângelo (Wikipedia).
    Depois de percorrermos todo o castelo, saímos e seguimos pela belíssima Via della Conciliazione em direção à Basílica de São Pedro, para vermos finalmente o seu interior. Entramos na longa fila que dá acesso à entrada da Basílica mas em pouco tempo já estávamos lá dentro. São incríveis as sensações que se tem ao entrar. Primeiro a sensação de paz, mesmo estando no meio de uma multidão. Depois a sensação de empolgação de poder ver e estar dentro de uma das mais belas obras já feitas, independentemente de religião. Como ainda estava tendo uma missa quando entramos, os acessos a alguns lugares estavam bloqueados para visitação até a missa acabar. Mas, enquanto isso, pudemos ver e ficamos maravilhados com cada altar lateral, cada detalhe bem trabalhado, o altar principal, a cúpula... e, também com acesso bloqueado por uma cortina, a obra mais perfeita de Michelangelo: a Pietà. Assim que a missa terminou, a cortina foi aberta e pudemos contemplar essa obra por algum tempo em meio à multidão. Simplesmente perfeita! Linda! Hipnotizante! Não tem palavras suficientes para descrever. Passada a hipnose, continuamos a olhar cada detalhe, porém não conseguimos chegar a tempo para visitar as tumbas dos papas, o museu de relíquias e a cúpula. Então, depois de tirarmos muitas fotos e olharmos tudo o que pudemos, saímos e voltamos para a Via Ottaviano para, mais uma vez, olhar as lojas de souvenir.
    Já eram por volta das 19:30h e já estávamos bem cansados, então nos demos por satisfeitos com o dia e fomos para a estação do metrô para voltarmos para a Estação Termini. Chegamos à estação e passamos rapidamente no mercado para comprar algo para lancharmos. Chegamos ao hotel por volta das 20:30h, lanchamos e ficamos novamente planejando o dia seguinte... Dicas:
1) Na Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano há mais a ser visitado além da igreja, como o museu, o batistério, a capela. Se tiver tempo, recomendo a visitação.
2) Na Basilica di San Pietro também há várias opções de visitação além da própria igreja, como as tumbas dos papas, o museu de tesouros de São Pedro, a Necrópole (esta deve ser agendada com muita antecedência). 3) A vista do terraço do Castel Sant'Angelo é linda e pode render muitas belas fotos da cidade.
4) Não economize nas fotos. Tire fotos de tudo o que puder, pois tudo é muito lindo lá.
5) Não esqueça o Roma Pass. ;)

5th DAY - 17/10/2012 - Tour in Rome - Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano, Castel Sant'Angelo and San Peter's Basilica
    Just like the previous day again, we woke up and got ready to go out at around 8:30am. We organized all we needed in the backpack and went again to Rik's Cafe' to the last breakfast there. It was another beautiful, sunny and almost cloudless day.
    After breakfast, we took the subway towards the Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano. We arrived at the station at around 10:00am and went towards the Basilica, passing through the gate of one of the walls that surround the city limits of Ancient Rome. The Basilica of St. John Lateran (Italian: San Giovanni in Laterano) is located on Piazza San Giovanni. Its official name is Archibasilica Sanctissimi Salvatoris et Sanctorum Iohannes Baptista et Evangelista in Laterano (Archbasilica of the Most Holy Saviour and Ss. John the Baptist and the Evangelist in Lateran) and holds the honorific title of Omnium Urbis et Orbis Ecclesiarum Mater et Caput (Mother and Head of all the churches of Rome and the World), which places it above all the churches of the world, because it's the Catedral Church of the Diocese of Rome, that contains the Papal Throne (Cathedra Romana) and is the official ecclesiastical seat of the Bishop of Rome: the Pope. We got there and, once again, we were amazed by so much beauty in every detail, every sculpture, every painting, every altar. We looked almost everything, took some pictures, lighted a candle, making a prayer for protection and we just didn't visit the museum because of a wrong information, but it was good, because the time was too short.     Leaving there, we went to a huge store of Coin, on the corner in front of the gate and we looked at lots of things, from clothes to perfumes and makeup, even articles of housewares. The store has four floors and is very big. After looking everything, we went to the subway and headed towards the station Ottaviano to visit the Castel Sant'Angelo. We got out of the station and, how it was almost 1:00pm, we went looking for a place for lunch. We went throught Via Silla and found a simple and very good restaurant called 'Risorante Antropometrico'. We ordered the basic dishes: a 'Spaghetti alla carbonara' and a 'Gnocchi di patate al pomodoro'. Very good!
    After lunch, we went towards the Castel Sant'Angelo. WHAT A SPETACULAR PLACE! The castle viewed from the courtyard outside, near the bridge, it's beautiful. We took the line which was not so big and, holding our Roma Pass, paid the ticket with discount. We got into every room, we saw every place which was available to see and took many photos. I could spend a long time describing everything we saw, since it's a very big castle, but the photos can show more details.     After walking by the whole castle, we got out and walked by the beautiful Via della Conciliazione towards the St. Peter's Basilica, to finally know its interior. We got the long line which provides access to the Basilica's entry but in a few time we were inside it. Amazing sensations cover you when you get into there. Firstly the sensation of peace, even being in the middle of a crowd. Then the sensation of excitement of be able to see and being inside one of the most beautiful works ever made, independently of religion. How it was still having a mass presided by a local Bishop when we entered, some places there had their access blocked for visitation until the end of mass. But, meanwhile, we could see and we are amazed by each side altar, every detail well done, the main altar, the dome... and also with access blocked by a curtain, the most perfect Michelangelo's work: the Pietà. As the Mass ended, the curtain was opened and we could contemplate this work for some time among the crowd. Simply perfect! Wonderful! Mesmerizing! There are not enough words to describe this wonder. After the hypnosis, we continue to looking every detail, but we could not get there in time to visit the tombs of the popes, the museum of St. Peter's Treasury and the dome. Then after we took lots of photos and looking everything we could, we left and went back to Via Ottaviano to, once again, look at the souvenir stores.
    It was already around 7:30pm and we were very tired, so we were pleased with the day and went to the subway station to get back to Termini Station. We arrived at the station and went quickly to the market to buy something for dinner. We arrived at the hotel at around 8:30pm, had dinner and were again planning the next day... Tips:
1) There are more to be visited in Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano along with the church, such as the museum, the baptistery, the chapel. If you have time, I recommend visiting them.
2) There are several options of visitation at St. Peter's Basilica along with the church, such as the tombs of the popes, the museum of St. Peter's Treasury, the Necropolis (it must be scheduled long in advance). 3) The view from the terrace of Castel Sant'Angelo is wonderful and you can take beautiful photos of the city.
4) Take pictures of everything you can, because everything is very beautiful there.
5) Don't forget the Roma Pass. ;)
