03º DIA - 15/10/2012 - Passeio por Roma - Jardins e Museus do Vaticano
Levantamos por volta das 8h da manhã e nos arrumamos para sair. Organizamos tudo o que precisávamos levar: câmera fotográfica, ingressos, mapas, documentos e, claro, dinheiro para lanche/almoço/sorvetes. O dia estava nublado, com cara de que iria chover.
Fomos até a cafeteria Rik's Cafe' que nos foi recomendada pelo hotel (e que nos deram tickets para o café-da-manhã) e tomamos o legítimo café-da-manhã italiano: cappuccino + croissant.
Já eram pouco mais de 9h quando terminamos e tivemos que correr pois já estávamos atrasados para chegar ao local do passeio guiado aos Jardins do Vaticano, Museus e Capela Sistina que havíamos comprado com antecedência e agendado para as 09:30h. Fomos até uma tabacaria/banca na Estação Termini e compramos um Roma Pass para cada e pegamos o metrô sentido Estação Ottaviano.
Começou a chover muito e, como se não bastasse estarmos muito atrasados, demoramos a encontrar a entrada para os museus, onde tinha uma fila imensa. Mas havia uma outra fila muito menor para quem comprou antecipadamente os ingressos, então entramos e fomos direto ao guichê. Chegamos lá quase 10h e entreguei os vouchers ao atendente e, para nossa surpresa, ele nos informou que o grupo ainda não tinha fechado e pediu para aguardarmos perto da nossa guia, uma velhinha muito simpática. Assim que o grupo ficou completo (15 pessoas), partimos para os Jardins do Vaticano. Felizmente parou de chover e... que passeio maravilhoso! O passeio durou 2 horas e pudemos conhecer quase tudo, como descrito no site oficial da Cidade do Vaticano: "A Visit to the Vatican Gardens".
Depois retornamos ao ponto de partida e fomos ao restaurante do próprio museu para almoçar: 3 fatias gigantes de pizza. Simplesmente delicioso! Havia várias opções de refeição no restaurante mas só pensávamos em comer algo bom e rápido para logo irmos para os museus.
Assim que terminamos de comer, fomos para os museus por volta das 14h e não podíamos perder mais tempo, pois é um complexo gigantesco com vários museus agregados e com muita coisa legal para ver, como descrito também no site do Vaticano: "The Vatican Museums". Visitamos todo o complexo (seguindo o fluxo de turistas) e não dá para descrever o que gostamos mais, pois gostamos de tudo. Ao final, chegamos à Capela Sistina. Ficamos hipnotizados pela enorme beleza de seus afrescos. Ver de perto "A Criação de Adão" e "A Criação de Eva", de Michelangelo, foi uma experiência fantástica. Uma pena que o tempo passa tão rápido. Acabamos a visita quase às 18h, horário de fechamento dos museus. A única saída era pela porta lateral por onde entramos.
Como o dia ainda estava claro, tentamos ainda visitar a Basílica de São Pedro, mas a entrada para turistas já estava fechada, então ficamos na Praça de São Pedro mesmo tirando fotos. Depois fomos fazer o que todo turista mais gosta: comprar souvenir. Entramos em algumas lojas e compramos lembrancinhas com temas de Roma para amigos e familiares.
Voltamos ao hotel por volta das 20:30h e ficamos novamente até tarde planejando o dia seguinte... (segue no 04º DIA)

Dicas:
1) Se ficar por 3 dias ou mais em Roma, recomendo a compra do Roma Pass. É muito mais prático para se locomover nos transportes públicos e ainda dá direito a entrada gratuita em 2 museus (não é válido para o Vaticano) e descontos nos demais. Outra vantagem para quem tem o Roma Pass é não ter que enfrentar as filas gigantescas.
2) Se não estiver disposto a enfrentar uma fila gigantesca para visitar os Museus do Vaticano, a Capela Sistina, os Jardins do Vaticano e a Basílica de São Pedro, a melhor opção é comprar os ingressos pelo site do Vaticano. Fica mais caro, mas é muito mais prático e há várias opções de acordo com o que se deseja visitar, sendo visita guiada ou não. Os Jardins, por exemplo, só podem ser visitados com o guia e com agendamento.
3) Os Museus do Vaticano têm diferentes horários de abertura e fechamento durante alguns meses e estações. Como nós fomos em Outubro, eles abriam às 8:30 e fechavam às 18:00. Recomendo visitar o site oficial do Vaticano para verificar os dias e horários de abertura e fechamento. Eles não abrem aos domingos (exceto o último domingo de cada mês, quando a entrada é gratuita e não há visita guiada).

3rd DAY - 15/10/2012 - Tour in Rome - Vatican Gardens and Museums
We woke up and got ready to go out at around 8:00am. We organized all things we needed: camera, tickets, maps, documents and, of course, some money for snacks/lunch/ice creams. The weather was cloudy and seemed that would rain.
We went to a cafeteria called Rik's Cafe' which was recommended by the hotel (and they gave us tickets for the breakfast) and we had a genuine Italian breakfast: cappuccino + croissant.
We finished the breakfast around 9:00am and had to go very fast because we were a bit late to arrive at the guided tour by the Vatican Gardens, Museums and Sistine Chapel which we had purchased in advance and scheduled for 9:30am. We went to a newsstand at Termini Station and bought two Roma Pass and we rode the subway to Ottaviano Station.
It started raining a lot and in addition we were already too late, we didn't find easily the entrance to the museum, where there was a very big queue. But there was another little queue for people who bought tickets in advance, then we arrived and went fast to the ticket office. We got there about 10:00am and I handed the vouchers to the attendant and, to our surprise, he informed us that the group wasn't ready yet and told us to wait near our guide, an old and very friendly woman. Once the group was complete (15 people), we went to the Vatican Gardens. Fortunately the rain had stopped and... what wonderful tour! The tour lasted 2 hours and we visited almost everything, as described on the official website of Vatican City: "A Visit to the Vatican Gardens".
Then we returned to the starting point and we went to the museum's restaurant for lunch: 3 giant pieces of pizza. Simply delicious! There were many dining options at the restaurant but we only thought of eating something good and fast to go quickly to museums.
Once we finished eating, we went to the museums at around 2:00pm and we couldn't waste more time, because it's a huge complex with many museums and very cool things to see, as also described in Vatican website: "The Vatican Museums". We visited the whole places (following the other tourists) and I can't describe what we liked more, because we liked everything. At the end, we arrived to Sistine Chapel. We were mesmerized by the great beauty of its frescoes. Looking so closely the "Creation of Adam" and "The Creation of Eve" by Michelangelo, was a fantastic experience. Unfortunately time goes by so fast. Our tour finished almost 6:00pm, the museum closing time. The door which we had arrived was the only exit from there.
After that, we still try to visit the St. Peter's Basilica, but the entrance for tourists was already closed, so we were in St. Peter's Square taking pictures. Then we went to do what all tourists love: buying some souvenirs. We got into some stores and bought souvenirs with Rome themes to friends and family.
Then we returned to the hotel at around 8:30pm and were until late again planning the next day... (continues on 4th DAY)

2) If you don't want to get a huge queue to visit the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel, the Vatican Gardens and St. Peter's Basilica, the best option is to buy tickets at the Vatican website. It's more expensive but it's much more convenient and there are several options depending on what you want to visit, with guided tour or not. The Gardens, for example, can be visited only with a guide and with scheduling.
